Dog Control Bylaw

Council has a Dog Control Policy that sets out its approach to the control and management of dogs in the Taupō District. We also have a bylaw that allows the policy to be enforced, e.g. issue fines.Taupō District Council’s Control of Dogs Bylaw 2021 sets out:Areas where dogs are prohibited (First schedule)Dog exercise areas (Second schedule). These are public places where dogs can be off leash (as long as they are still under control). This provides an area where dogs have the ability to exercise unrestrained and within a social setting. In other public places, dogs must on a leash and under control at all times. Please see the Dog Control Policy 2021 and the Control of Dogs Bylaw 2021 for more information.
