What we did (high-level)
Published first sample tranche of active mode count open data.
In answer to significant user interest, we published the first, sample tranche of active mode count (walking and cycling) open data.

Published updated 15-min-resolution traffic count data.
We updated the traffic count 15-min-resolution open data to end Jan 2022.

Published carbon emissions open data.
The MVR (motor vehicle register) open data – both API and CSV files – now contains fuel consumption and synthetic greenhouse gas emission data.

Published updated public attitudes to road safety open data.
We published the open data for the public attitudes to road safety survey 2021-22, which provides insight into public attitudes to road safety issues and behaviours in 2021.

Finalised updated CAS open data documentation.
Following user feedback, we have written detailed updated documentation for both CAS (crash analysis system) open datasets. We will publish it in March.
Completed updated open data maturity assessment.
We completed our second open data maturity assessment, with a 20% improvement in score since the first one in late 2020. We’ll be conducting more detailed analysis and piping it through into our roadmap and priorities.
Finalised transport sector open data framework.
Finalised content of the framework. Its purpose is to help enable the entire sector to align efforts, prevent wheel reinvention, improve maturity etc.
This month’s fun fact: 79% - of NZers consider our roads to be at least fairly safe to travel on.
