What we did (high-level)
Published transport sector open data framework.
Published New Zealand’s first all-of-transport-sector open data framework. Its purpose is to help enable the entire sector to align efforts, prevent wheel reinvention, improve maturity etc.

Published first open data user survey.
To better understand our users and continue to improve on our open data, we published our first open data survey across a range of channels, both internal and external.

Published improved CAS documentation.
Following user feedback, we published detailed user documentation for our CAS (crash analysis system) open data. The documentation accompanies the CAS listings.

DataHack v3+.
Planning has begun for upcoming ‘DataHack’ events, where we bring people together from across Waka Kotahi, and more widely, to work on various challenges using data. The aim is to generate novel insights, build capability and capacity, and give people space to innovate and enjoy themselves.
Foundational work.
We have been doing considerable work in the background on a range of matters, including backend systems and processes, as well as research into open data value and impact, and how to measure / demonstrate these for Waka Kotahi open data. We will publish them when they’re ready.
This month’s fun fact: 80% of survey respondents agree that open data is valuable to them.
