Children's Commissioner

We are an independent authority promoting children’s and young people’s wellbeing through advocacy, consultation, monitoring, research and investigation.

The Children’s Commissioner speaks out on behalf of all children to ensure their rights are respected and upheld. This position is established by the Children’s Commissioner Act 2003 [and previously the Children, Young Persons and Families Act 1989]. The Commissioner can inquire into any matter affecting children and young people in any service or organisation and investigate the actions of the Department of Child, Youth and Family Services.
